How much does each credit pack cost?
evaleasy sells credits in 3 packs, and one credit marks one page. Prices are in USD. Each pack is a one-off purchase with no subscription, and credits from different packs add up on your account.

Is signing up free?
Signing up is free and needs no card, but marking needs credits, and new accounts start with none. There's no free trial and there are no free credits. The smallest purchase is Starter: 100 credits for $5.00, which covers a class of 25 with 4-page papers.
What counts as a page?
One page of a PDF is one page, and one photo is one page. Typed work is counted by its length instead.
- Every page in a PDF counts, including cover sheets and blank pages, because the count comes from the file. Take out any pages you don't need marked before you upload.
- A paper made of several files adds them up, so a student's work photographed on 5 sheets is 5 pages.
- Word files, text files and pasted text count one page per 3,000 characters, rounded up. 7,000 characters is 3 pages, and a 200-character answer is still 1 page.
What does it cost to mark a class?
A class of 30 with 4-page papers is 120 pages, which uses 120 credits worth $4.20 to $6.00, depending on the pack. Packs are bought whole, so what you pay up front is the price of the packs. Any credits left over stay on your account for the next class.

How do I work out the cost of other papers?
Multiply the pages by the pack's cost per page, because the page count is the only thing that sets the price. Each pack's column below shows the value of the credits used, at that pack's rate.

When are credits refunded?
Credits come back to your account automatically when a paper can't be marked, and there's nothing to claim. That covers four cases:
- The pages can't be read at all, for example because they are too blurry, too dark, cut off or not a document.
- No answers can be found on the paper, which usually means the wrong file was uploaded.
- Marking still fails after repeated attempts.
- You delete a paper or a batch before marking finishes.
When aren't credits refunded?
A paper that was marked keeps its charge, even if some answers couldn't be made out, some questions are flagged for you to check, or every question came back unanswered. Deleting a paper after it has been marked doesn't return its credits. Uploading the same paper again is charged again, even though the earlier reading is reused. Redo reads and marks a paper again from scratch for what it cost the first time, and those credits come back if the redo fails.
Do credits expire?
No, evaleasy credits don't expire. They stay on your account until you use them, so a larger pack bought in one term can still be marking papers in the next.
What isn't charged?
Answer keys and question papers aren't charged, up to 40 pages in total. You pay only for the students' pages, however much work goes on behind them.
- Uploaded answer keys, rubrics and question papers, up to 40 pages across up to 10 files. More than that is refused.
- Keys, rubrics and instructions typed in plain words, up to 20,000 characters.
- Second and third readings of a paper, and repeat marking passes on written answers.
- The plagiarism check on a bulk evaluation, which compares its papers with each other.
What are the limits per file, paper and batch?
Each uploaded file can be up to 20 MB, each paper up to 30 pages, and each batch up to 1,000 papers.

Common questions
- Is there a free trial?
- No. evaleasy has no free trial and gives no free credits. You can create an account without paying, but a paper can't be marked until you've bought a pack.
- What happens if I run out of credits halfway through a class?
- The dashboard sends each paper separately and checks your balance for each. Papers already sent are marked as normal, and the rest show "Not enough credits". Keep that page open and buy a pack in another tab. Trying again then adds them to the same batch, and a paper that already uploaded isn't charged twice.
- Does marking without an answer key cost more?
- No. evaleasy's price depends only on pages. Having a key or not, the strictness setting, the question types and the number of questions don't change it.
- Does a long essay cost more than a short one?
- It depends on how it reaches evaleasy. A handwritten essay scanned on 3 pages costs 3 credits however much is written on each. A typed essay costs one credit per 3,000 characters, so 9,000 characters costs 3 credits.
- Which pack should I buy?
- Count the pages you expect to mark over the coming months and buy for that. Credits don't expire, so the only cost of a larger pack is the money up front: Bulk works out at $0.035 a page against $0.05 on Starter, at $70.00 against $5.00.
- Does the API cost the same?
- Yes. Papers sent through the evaleasy API use the same credits per page, from the same balance, as papers uploaded in the dashboard.
