Marking is the most expensive thing your school does twice.
You pay for it in salaries, and again in the evenings and weekends your teachers never get back. Here's one example school.
Everything you'd want from a marking team. Minus the overtime.
Built for real papers, real classes and real deadlines, with a teacher in charge of every mark.
How much is marking really costing you?
Every paper a teacher marks by hand is paid for in salary or in evenings. Drag the sliders and watch what comes back.
How do you mark papers with evaleasy?
Three steps. The third one is reading the results.
What do you get for a whole class?
A bulk evaluation has one page for the whole class, with the settings you chose applied to every paper.
- Class stats
- The average, highest and lowest scores, how many papers need review, and how many failed. Failed papers are refunded.
- A plagiarism check
- It compares the class's papers with each other and flags possible copying for you to check, including papers sharing the same unusual wrong answers. It costs no credits, doesn't search the web, doesn't detect AI writing and doesn't change marks.
- A CSV of marks
- One row per student and one column per question, ready for your spreadsheet.
- Each student's own report
- Open any paper from the list to read its report or print it.
What can evaleasy mark?
Multiple choice, bubble sheets, true/false, fill in the blanks, match-the-following, numerical questions, short answers, long answers and essays, from PDFs, photos, Word files or typed text.
Who is evaleasy for?
Anyone with papers to mark: teachers, school staff and exam coordinators, tutors and coaching centres, and developers adding marking to their own software.
It shows its working. Every single time.
You can check any mark, because each question in the report shows the student's answer, the correct answer, the reason for the mark and how it was marked. Behind that:
- Each scan or photo is read twice
- An AI model reads the paper two separate times, so the readings can be compared. Typed text only needs one reading.
- A disagreement gets a third reading
- If the two readings differ on a marked option or a blank, the paper is read again and the majority stands.
- Your key is compared in code
- Multiple choice and true/false are compared with your key by a plain program, as are blanks and numbers that match it. The AI model only judges near-misses and written answers.
- Unclear answers, your call
- If three readings still don't agree, the answer earns no marks and the report shows what else it was read as. Prefer to check those yourself? Turn flags on and the paper gets a Needs review badge instead.
- Worked-out answers are labelled
- Without a key, the AI model works out the answers, and the report says so on every question it affects.
- You can redo a paper from scratch
- Redo reads and marks a paper again, for what it cost the first time. The new report replaces the old one, and if the redo fails the credits come back.
Don't take our word for it. evaleasy doesn't publish an accuracy percentage, because the test that counts is your own, on papers a teacher has already marked. For the whole mechanism, read how evaleasy marks a paper.
What does it cost? From $0.035 a page.
evaleasy costs 1 credit per page, which comes to $0.035 to $0.05 a page in USD depending on the pack you buy. Credits don't expire, and papers that can't be marked are refunded. Signing up is free, but marking needs credits. See pricing.
Common questions
- How much time and money can a school save?
- It depends on your school, so the calculator on this page uses your own figures. As an example, 500 students sitting 12 papers a year is 6,000 papers. At 8 minutes a paper by hand and $10 an hour, that's 800 hours and $8,000. With evaleasy, and a teacher spending 1 minute checking each report, it comes to 100 hours and $2,260, credits included.
- Can AI grade handwritten exam papers?
- Yes. evaleasy reads handwriting from scans and phone photos, and reads each paper twice so the two readings can be compared. An answer it can't make out earns no marks, or is flagged for you if you turn flags on, and pages it can't read at all are refunded. Handwriting varies a lot, so try it on papers you have already marked.
- What if I don't have an answer key?
- You can still upload the papers. evaleasy's AI model works out the answers, and code compares multiple choice answers with what it worked out. The report says so on every question this affects, so you know which correct answers to check.
- Can it mark a whole class at once?
- Yes, up to 1,000 papers in a batch, with each student's paper as its own file. You see progress as it runs, then a page with the class's stats, a plagiarism check, a CSV of marks and each student's report.
- What files can I upload?
- PDFs (scanned, typed or fillable), JPEG, PNG and WebP photos, Word .docx files and plain text, or you can paste typed text. iPhone HEIC photos and old .doc files aren't supported yet, so export those as JPEG and .docx or PDF first.
- Will a teacher still need to look at the papers?
- Yes. It makes sense to spot-check the marks, and you can turn flags on to have doubts sent to you. evaleasy gives you a marked report for each paper, with the reason for every mark, so you are checking its work instead of starting from a blank page.
